Who is Amiya Ranjan Patnaik?


National Award  Winner Odia film maker Amiya Ranjan Patnaik will be remembered for his  dia films Hakim Babu,Mamta Mage Mula,Pua Moro Kala Thakura,Chakadola Karuchi Leela,Rajarani,Chaka Akhi Sabu Dekhuchi,Asuchi Mo Kalia Suna,Paradeshi Babu and Tulasi Apa.
Amiya Patnaik was Known as Odisha’s Eminent film director and producer of Odisha and a warm personality. His contribution to Odia theater and film is noteworthy. He was born in 1955 in Kendujhar. An NIT alumnus, Patnaik was into the theater after his mechanical engineering course and later ventured into films and television.


About Family? 





His siblings are Niranjan Patnaik and Soumya Ranjan Patnaik. He is survived by wife Seema Patnaik and son Anupam Patnaik.
Patnaik was also the president of Odisha  Producer’s Association and Founder member of a leading media house of Odisha. He was the younger brother of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik. 


Career and Awards?



In 2015 he returned to the Director’s chair to churn out the multiple awards winning movie Tulashi Apa. The movie was screened at several film festivals since 2015 and finally got a theatrical release in 2017. It has Barsha Pattnaik, Sujit Paikrai and Mamta Panda in prominent roles.
His notable works were Hakim Babu and Tulasi Apa. The former won the 33rd National Films Awards for Best Feature Film in Odia and the latter winning the Odisha State Films Awards for Best Feature Film in Odia and latter winning the Odisha State  Film Award in Six Catagories. He was adjudged the Best Director of a play ‘Byabhichara’ in 1981. Pattnaik’s demise was condoled by the Odia film fraternity. Amiya Patnaik made his directional debut with ‘Mamta Mage Mula’ in 1985. The movie was also his first venture as a producer. Since then he has produced hit movies like Hakim Babu(1985),Mamta Mage Mula(1985),Pua Moro Kala Thakura(1988),Chakadola Karuchi Leela,Rajarani(1989),Chaka Akhi Sabu Dekhuchi(1987),Auchi Mo Kalia Suna(1989),Moner Moto Mon(1998),Paradeshi Babu (1999),Babu I Love You(2005)and Tulasi Apa(2015).


Death of Amiya Ranjan Patnaik?


The Odia Film and Television Industry are saddened by the news of filmmaker and producer Amiya Patnaik’s demise in New Delhi on Friday. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for pancreatic cancer. The 63-years old filmmaker is survived by wife Seema and son Anupam. His body was brought to BHUBANESWAR where people from the film, television and other sectors he worked in paid tribute.it was then taken to SWARGADWARA in Puri for cremation on Saturday.
