Lingaraj Temple is one of the greatest popular temples in
Orissa. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva, also known as Lingaraj.
Decorated with lovely sculptures imprinted hooked on pointers. Lingaraja Temple
is about 54.8 meters tall and structures a vast sculpture of Shiva finished of
granite. The idol is eight feet in diameter and is located on a platform almost
eight inches overhead the ground. God bathes in water, milk, and vans
(marijuana) every day.

Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar is supposed to date back to
the late 11th century. But some trust that shares of the temple has remained
there meanwhile the 6th century. It is said that the temple was built by King
Somavansi's Jajatikeshari. However, there is no historical record to validate the right.
The high walls of Lingaraj Temple, complete of red sandstone, appearance like a
fortress when viewed from the outside.

Lingaraj Temple Architecture
On the east side of the temple is an isolated arrival usually
known as the "Simhadwara" or "Lion's Gate". Lingaraja, one
of the eldest temples in Bhubaneswar, has 150 small memorials in a vast
courtyard. Lingaraj Temple is basically a calm of four parts. The main temples,
"Yajinashala", "Bogamandaup", and "Nathiyashala".
Lengthways with Shiva, he similarly sanctifies Vishnu in the form of idol
calligrams. The chief door of the temple has Trishul of Shiva on one side and
Chakra of Vishnu on the other.
